An amusing report on the book launch for The Coming Insurrection, courtesy of the Institute. When I read these kind of things I always think if I was involved I'd be the one arrested / lose my job / have my life ruined, while everyone else headed off to a fantastic anarchist party. The irony of the invocation of courage in my forthcoming book does not escape me...

The arrest of the Tarnac nine was a bleedin outrage. The NYT piece doesn't say that the invisible committee were all released without charge, because a German Eco-group claimed total responsibility for the sabotage and provded evidence thereof. IOt's not that a good read in the end though. I did read it in French, however, and perhaps that's why. Still, the violent rejection of things the way they are was a blessed relief from all this Badiou introspection that's gripping (not) the leftinternet at the mo.
Having just read the first page of it in English....I think my French est pire que j'ai pensé.
