La Fin Absolue du Monde

On the financial crisis the Pope declares that there is nothing to worry about as money is "nothing" and "the only solid reality is the word of God". There may be something to the first contention... (thanks to Savonarola for this link).

If you aren't already depressed enough cheer yourself by contemplating the apocalypse here, including yours truly trying (again) to avoid the politics of the worst. What is the Threads font? And can we try to overturn Times New Roman with it...
[I did try and persuade the Kino to show The Crazies, but they were having nothing of my populist cult studs deviationism...]

Actually, I'm all for Populist Cult Studs Deviationism if it involves showing Romero films - the real issue was whether or not we could show something with Threads. We would get sued by the traumatised.

Yes, I was only joking - I probably crave censure...
I'd quite like to see Knightriders (1981), which I think I may have seen bits of. A film about countercultural recuperation and the neoliberal freeze (in my reading). I did once have a semi-thesis concerning Romero and Sartrian groups-in-fusion (obviously one for IT)

Blimey. I've seen neither The Crazies nor Knightriders - in fact I've only seen the zombie trilogy and Martin, maybe at some point we'll have a horror fist. Non-nihilist, anti-mysticist horror.
